Beyonce Calls Blue Ivy A ‘Cultural Icon’ In Legal Battle With Wedding Planner To Trademark Her Daughter’s Name

Published

on

Like any mother, Beyonce goes hard for her children and the queen is currently piping up in a legal battle with a wedding planner to trademark her young princess’ name. According to court docs obtained by Blast, Beyonce lists Blue Ivy Carter being a cultural icon as just one of several reasons why she should be granted a trademark for her famous daughter’s name. To loop y’all in, Beyonce has been battling wedding planner Wendy Morales for years over this trademark and the case is likely to go to trial.

Morales claims she had already been using the name “Blue Ivy” for years but in newly filed documents, Beyonce clearly feels Morales’ claim that consumers will confuse Morales’ boutique wedding event planning business with her daughter’s name is just silly. Bey even got a little shady in the process.

Beyonce says Morales runs a “small business, with just three regional offices and a handful of employees”, with weak online presence and poorly subscribed social media accounts. Bey also pointed out that her trademark application is for “Blue Ivy Carter,” not “Blue Ivy.”

In the court docs, Beyonce also accused Morales of having, “exhibited a pattern and practice of affirmatively attempting to connect its brand with Blue Ivy Carter to increase its exposure and drum up business,” and even pulled receipts!

Bey points to interviews Morales gave following her daughter’s birth. In the radio interviews, Morales talked about her business receiving more attention. She even admitted reaching out to Beyoncé’s agent.

Beyonce adds Morales also had a sale on her daughter’s birthday. Beyoncé denies Morales claim she has no intention to use the trademark.

She says, “Indeed, the circumstantial evidence, including Blue Ivy Carter’s fame, her interest in fashion and design, and her familial relationship with two of the most famous performers in the world all support BGK’s intent to use the BLUE IVY CARTER trademark in connection with building a brand consistent with Blue Ivy Carter’s interests and skills.”

Bey finishes off by saying her daughter is a “cultural icon who has been described as a ‘mini style star’ and has been celebrated for her ‘fashion moment’ overs the years. Her life and activities are followed extensively by the media and the public.”

“Most significantly, Blue Ivy Carter has achieved a significant amount of fame, particularly at such a young age. She also has a noted and well-chronicled interest in fashion. Given these factors, Blue Ivy Carter is capable of and interested in becoming the face of a brand. For this reason, the factual context demonstrates that BGK filed the Application with the intent to build a brand around Blue Ivy Carter and her public reputation and renown.”

“The Real” co-host Jeannie Mai and rapper Jeezy are now engaged.

According to People, the rapper/businessman popped the question during a special date night. The publication says the proposal went down at his LA crib on March 27.

People – which reported the news first – says Jeezy was planning to propose to Mai on a scheduled trip to Vietnam in April. However, the trip was scrapped due to the coronavirus crisis and related travel restrictions. Apparently dude couldn’t wait any longer to wife her up and surprised Jeannie with the proposal during date night inside.

“Jeannie and Jay were set for a trip to Vietnam this April. What Jeannie didn’t know is that Jay was planning to propose. Instead, Jay decided to bring Vietnam to Jeannie with a surprise quarantine date night in his home filled with Vietnamese food and decor,” a rep for Mai said.

For those that don’t know how they got hooked up or forgot, they met on the set of her daytime talk show, “The Real,” and started dating in November 2018. Mai and Jeezy didn’t confirm their romance until August 2019.

“We both went through enough in our life to connect on the understanding that love should feel safe, honest, and pure,” Mai told People about the relationship last November. “Immediately that was a magnetic attraction. We are very attracted to each other’s passions to serve. So because we have a mutual joy of having a purpose, we’re going to find a way to do that together.”

Jeezy, 42 and Mai, 41, also spent Thanksgiving together for the first time in his hometown of Atlanta, where Mai mingled with Jeezy’s extended family and gave back by working with two local nonprofits.

“It was so wonderful to meet his family and be able to spend time together,” she said on The Real at the time. “It was special.”

Mai was previously married to Freddy Harteis. The divorce was officially settled in January 2019.

In the divorce agreement, both parties agreed to waive the right to spousal support. Mai walked away with her $1.2 million Sherman Oaks home, clothing, jewelry and other personal effects. The talk show host kept several bank accounts and her entertainment company Mai Dream Inc.

Her ex-husband walked away with a 2003 Mercedes Benz C-Class, a 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 Power Wagon, a Sprinter Pull Log Trailer, and several other bank accounts.

Dwyane Wade recalls telling Gabrielle Union he had a child with another woman

In upcoming ESPN documentary “D. Wade: Life Unexpected,” NBA baller Dwyane Wade not only discusses his life on the court, but his personal relationships as well, opening up about the moment he had to tell his now-wife, actress Gabrielle Union, that he fathered a child while the two were “on a break.”

“I had a child with someone else and I had to tell her. Hardest thing I’ve ever had to do is man up and tell Gabrielle Union that I’ve had a child with somebody else,” he says in the upcoming sports special, ET reports. “I couldn’t sleep. I wasn’t eating.”

Wade was already father to son Zaire, 18, daughter Zaya, 12, and nephew Dahveon, 18 when he and “Basketball Wives” star Aja Metoyer conceived 6-year-old Xavier shortly before reuniting with and proposing to the former “AGT” judge.

He continued, “When you hold something in that you know is going to come out and you have this information and you know it’s gonna f–k somebody’s life up, that you care about, that you love, if it don’t hurt you, then you’re not human.”

Wade, 38, went on to say he and Union, 47, “went through something that you never want to go through and we still came out of it.”

The Wades married in August 2014 and welcomed daughter Kaavia, 1, via surrogate in 2018.
